i’ve always enjoyed digging in the dirt, planting, and watching things grow. i’m not an avid gardener; sometimes i succeed and sometimes not so much – but i am really fond of the process.
we did really well getting our raised bed in order this year – beginning in early March we removed and tilled the old growth, added some natural mulch and found some heirloom seedlings; we planted jalapeno, cherry tomatoes, large tomatoes, basil, bell peppers and cilantro.
our first “harvest” came in late May – we had some awesome, perfectly sweet tomatoes and spicy jalapenos. the cilantro didn’t last long, some critter REALLY enjoyed it. we’ve already made a few batches of salsa and tomato sauce, YUM! love these gifts from the garden (=
