gifts from the earth
August 20th, 2010
i know that autumn is just around the corner, and with the relentless heat we’ve had this month, i am a little impatient waiting for it. sunflowers seem the perfect way to help keep a cool head ~ with their happy faces that celebrate the sunny last days of summer & warmly welcome the fall. my next paintings will most likely resonate this theme.
the things that grow in the dark series is in frames and will be on display at the deep ellum outdoor market this weekend (08/21/2010) along with matching cards.
this series was inspired by a recent trip to carlsbad caverns, n.m. even though no life makes its home in the depths of the cave; when there are visitors, things like “perception”, “curiosity”, and “imagination” are definitely growing there. a portion of all the sales from this series will benefit the national parks foundation.

thanks for letting me share my art with you! texas is my home, art is my love and i just really dig flowers.
i hope to spread the power of the flower through art and involvement.
